Overview
ArtMap allows you to easily create works of art by drawing on a canvas - map art on easy mode! With 61 colors and 4 variants each (244 total colors), you can create detailed pixel art that displays on Minecraft maps. This customized version includes special enhancements for a better artistic experience.
Main Commands
/art - Main information hub for the plugin. Very important! /art preview - Preview your artwork before saving /art save [title] - Save your completed artwork
How ArtMap Works
Canvas System:
- Use an easel to draw on your canvas
- Paint with items (see Paint Brushes section below)
- Each pixel corresponds to four map pixels
- 32×32 pixel canvases
Color System:
- 61 base colors with 4 variants each (244 total colors)
- Colors match Minecraft's map color palette exactly

Custom Enhancements
Customized Fork Features: This server runs a specially modified version of ArtMap with several improvements:
Glowing Easels:
- New glow easel variant that illuminates the canvas to prevent lighting differences in large Artmaps
- Perfect for working in darker areas or at night
- Same functionality as regular easels but with built-in lighting
Move Tool:
- Shift your entire canvas one pixel at a time in any direction
- Perfect for fine-tuning positioning and composition
- Allows precise adjustments without redrawing everything
Fixed Color Names:
- Fixes names for unnamed colors in the palette
- Ensures all colors work properly with the paint brush texture system
- Eliminates confusion with missing or broken color references
Paint Brushes System
Custom Resource Pack:
- Dye items are retextured to look like paint brushes when properly named
- Download the resource pack: dekatater.com/artmaps/packs.html
- Works automatically with the Artmap Brushes NBT plugin
Getting Paint Brushes:
- Rename dye items to their exact color names to retexture them. They do not need to be renamed to be used as brushes
- Color names available at: dekatater.com/artmaps
- Properly named dyes become paint brushes automatically
- Use the /art command to see all 61+ dye items
Art Gallery Integration
Sharing Your Art:
- Export finished artmaps to the public Art Gallery
- Gallery located at: http://dekatater.com/gallery
- Download your pixel art, combine multiple pieces, engage with the community
- Uses the Artmap Exporter plugin
Getting Started
Your First Artmap:
- Get an easel - Craft or obtain an easel block
- Set up your workspace - Place the easel where you want to work
- Get paint brushes/dyes - Rename dyes to color names for custom textures (optional)(see color list)
- Start painting - Right click and hold to draw a line, left click to place a dot. Use `/art` for tool info
- Preview your work - Use `/art preview` to see the result
- Save your masterpiece - Use `/art save [title]` when finished
Tips
- Use `/art` first - it contains essential information about the system
- Download the resource pack for the full paint brush experience
- Plan your artwork on digital tools first, like Pixelator and Dek's Artmap Helper
- The glow easel is great for multi-map artworks to prevent light level differences
- Use the move tool for small positioning adjustments
